Things to stick to and things to not stick to...

There is so many things that people will tell you to do, not to do, to have a destination wedding, to have a small gathering, to have a big wedding. Honestly it is quite overwhelming...Like really overwhelming.

Take it from me hun, do whatever your heart desires...If you want to have a huge wedding, then do it! That is what I am doing and I cannot tell you how many times someone has told me that I am making a mistake or that I will regret that. One of my best friends did a big wedding and they both claim that it was their BEST DAY OF THEIR LIVES!!! Now, if you have someone helping you pay for the wedding, well you may have to take some of their opinions into consideration, but remember, it is still YOUR day.

So Number ONE thing to do is to stick to your guns and do YOUR day the way YOU want to do it.

I LOVE ME A GOOD DETAIL SHOT, but almost every single time, everyone leaves and someone asks what their wedding decoration looks like, the only way someone can tell you is by going back and looking at their wedding photos, because lets be honest, we were paying attention to other things, like the food, the bride and groom, the wedding dress, and the reception.

So Number TWO thing to do, do not stress over the decorations, but make sure you still have fun with it.

Now BUDGETS are soooo important. THIS IS WHERE I SCREWED UP. Make a budget and STICK TO IT. Like seriously... I cannot tell you how I badly I regret already going over budget. I am a impulsive buyer kind of person, so I have impulsively said, yes let's do it, more times than I can count. Because EVERYONE ONLY REQUIRES HALF OF THEIR PRICE AS A DEPOSIT. So of coarse you can afford XYZ right now. But in 6-10 months, XYZ is due again. And there is always something that you forgot about, like transportation, hair, makeup, gifts for the bridal party, or even getting your hair done the month of the wedding so it is the perfect color.

So Number THREE thing to do, is to NOT go over budget.

Now when you start looking at vendors, it's going to be over whelming. Make a priority list of what is most important. Venue and date go hand in hand, so start with that. But after that choose what is most important to you after that. Only tackle one thing at a time. Maybe one - two weeks you will look for a DJ, then once that's done, move on the next one. But do research. Sit down, write it out, prices, hours they will be available, figure out the hourly rates of each one, will they be able to be there for the ceremony and the reception, and then compare them. ASK THE QUESTIONS, Will the Hair and Makeup be able to do all 8 of your bridesmaids or will you have to hire another Hair and Makeup stylist? These ae the things you need to research. For example, I searched and searched for someone just to teardown decorations, I kept finding options of 4 hour minimums for $500-$700. After I called and messaged around enough, I actually found a business that literally comes in and just does cleanup for an awesome price! So it helps to look around.

So Number FOUR thing to do, is to DO RESEARCH!
